2020 Happy New Year! 新年明けましておめでとうございます

Happy new year to foodies from all over the world! How was your OSHOGATSU everyone? Luckily, the weather was not chilly than expected and was blessed each day. Hubby and I went to Tsukiji, Asakusa, Ryogoku for shopping, prayer, and more shopping and did lots of lots of fun cooking at home starting from Soba noodles making. We bought Osechi for the first time and I realized that Osechi culture is fading away even for for Showa generations. Osechi is beautiful and gorgeous on the table but it is expensive(this one was 15000yen, reasonable from a special route)and too sweet or too salty since Osechi is a preserved feast from the past when there were no fridge in Japan. Cultures do change and I strongly felt that I will go back MAKING one even it is not gorgeous yet simple and much more feel like WANNA EAT. Anyways, hope everyone a cheerful new year!

By the way, hubby captured a UFO? in his video at night in Tokyo of 1/2. What do you think? If you are interested, check out my Twitter account @cooking_shirley 👽
